Quacky is a busy guy this weekend as he’s traveling to four different cities! This week our GAME Derby Duck racers in Des Moines, Iowa, Fayetteville, North Carolina, Gainesville, Georgia and Forth Worth, Texas will be underway.
The Youth Emergency Services Shelter (YESS) of Des Moines is in their 6th year of racing with us. They have sold close to 40,000 ducks which is a particularly great feat this year as it’s currently snowing in Des Moines! Looks like Quacky will be a little chilly for the race on Saturday, May 4 beginning at noon at the Jordan Creek Town Center. Proceeds from the YESS Duck Derby directly benefit the hundreds of young children, adolescents, and families who turn to YESS every year. The grand prize for this race is $10,000 CASH! Wow!
The Rubber Duck Derby of Gainesville, Georgia will also take place Saturday, May 4 beginning at 10am at Clarks Bridge Park. This Derby Duck race will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Hall County whose mission is to ensure that all young people realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Their grand prize is also $10,000!
Fort Worth‘s Derby Duck race will benefit Communities in Schools of Greater Tarrant County. The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. The Fort Worth GAME Derby Duck race will take place Saturday at MayFest in Fayetteville.
The Fayetteville Duck Derby will round out our Saturday from 12 noon to 5pm at Campbellton Landing. This year, 15,000 to 25,000 rubber ducks will race down the Cape Fear River to benefit Fayetteville Urban Ministry whose mission is transforming lives through FAITH, HOPE, LOVE, and SECURITY.
