Great Black Hills Duck Race
On Sunday, July 27th the 2014 Great Black Hills Duck Race returns to Rapid City, SD. Over 18,000 ducks will plunge into Rapid Creek racing down the 1.5 mile course all hoping to win some amazing cash prizes. The flock drops at 2pm MT and the day will be filled with souvenirs, games, and more! Proceeds benefit the Children’s Miracle Network, an organization that helps area children get the medical care they need. CMN is a program of the Rapid City Regional Hospital that works to fund medical equipment, services and programs for ill and injured children in the area. Silverdale Rotary Duck Race
Also racing on Sunday is the Silverdale Rotary Duck Race in Washington. As the last event of the Whaling Days Festival, 20,000 derby ducks will swim their way at the Silverdale Waterfront Park for a chance to win a truck from Advantage Nissan. There is also a chance to win a $1 million courtesy of Suquamish Clearwater Casino. All weekend there will be parades, food, music, and of course FUN. The duck race begins at 3pm PT on Sunday. This 21-year event is hosted by the Silverdale Rotary and all duck adoption proceeds will benefit numerous kid and adult organizations in the community including the Teen Center at the Hazelwood YMCA, scholarships for graduating high school students, and Kitsap Hospice.
