This weekend we have two GAME Derby Duck Races going on – one in Rapid City, South Dakota and one in Silverdale, Washington.
The Regional Health Great Black Hills Duck Race is in its 24th year in South Dakota. The race will take place Saturday, July 28 at 2pm at the West Main Bridge next to McDonald’s. This race benefits the Children’s Miracle Network at Regional Health Hospital. This program of the Rapid City Regional Hospital works to fund medical equipment, services and programs for ill and injured children in the area through in-school safety programs, a pediatric emergency transportation fund, and special equipment purchases. One hundred percent of the money raised through special events, such as the Duck Race, goes to children’s services at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Be sure to check out their great video on the website!
The Silverdale Rotary Duck Race will also be taking place Saturday. This Derby Duck Race will begin at 3:00pm at Silverdale Waterfront. The winner of this race can either win a brand new truck or $16,000 cash! Donations and Duck Adoptions from this event are utilized by the Rotary Club of Silverdale to change the lives of children through donations to programs feeding homeless children, supporting the Teen Center at the Hazelwood YMCA, Stand Up For Kids, providing scholarships for graduating High School Seniors, providing dictionaries to 3rd Graders and other causes to support youth in their community.
As always, we wish the best of luck to both racers this weekend!
