Coming from a quick weekend off, August heats up and the Derby Ducks are back this week with six duck races across the nation.  From Atlanta to Chicago to Aspen, be sure to check out a race near you and Adopt a Duck to support some great nonprofit organizations and rotaries.


Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby

Who: Special Olympics Illinois

All proceeds benefit nearly 21,500 athletes and over 18,500 Young Athletes across Illinois.

Where: Chicago, IL at 400 N. Michigan Avenue (The Wrigley Building)

When: Thursday, August 7, 2014

Event begins at 10am CT and Derby Ducks launched at 1pm CT

Highlights: Returning for its ninth year, the Windy City will feature entertainment for the entire family including face painting, games free food and appearances by several sports mascots.

Prizes: 60,000 Derby Ducks race for a chance to win the grand prize of a 2014 Chevy Equinox. Other prizes include an all-inclusive vacation to Cancun, a Chicago sports package, and a Chicago city getaway package!

Atlanta’s 9th Annual Duck Derby

Who: Special Olympics Georgia

Where: Atlanta, GA at Six Flags White Water in the Little Hooch

When: Friday, August 8, 2014 at 2pm ET

Highlights: A $5 Duck Adoption feeds one meal for one athlete at the State Summer Games. A $30 Quack Pack Adoption provides funds for gold, silver and bronze medals for one competition at the State Summer Games. A $60 Quacker’s Dozen Adoption provides funds for housing for two nights at the State Summer Games. A $100 Mega Quack Pack Adoption provides funds for housing for two nights at the State Summer Games and two meals for four participants.

Prizes: 10,000 Derby Ducks with hope to win an iPhone 5c 16GB. Other ducktastic prizes include a pair of .55 carat diamond earrings, a family ticket package to Six Flags White Water, a Surface RT Tablet and more!

Martinsville Speedway presents Blue Ridge Duck Race 5000

Who: Boys & Girls Clubs of Blue Ridge

Where: Axton, Virginia at the Smith River Sports Complex

When: Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 1pm ET

Highlights: This is the first year for the Blue Ridge Duck Race 5000. As part of the Smith River Fest, spectators can enjoy everything outdoors. You can enter the duck race, browse vendors and challenge yourself in the Helgramite Hustle 5k Mud Run!

Prizes: 6,000 Derby Ducks race for cash prizes which include $2,500 for first place, $1,000 for second place and $500 for third!

24th Annual Great Snake River Greenbelt Duck Race

Who: Hosted by the Idaho Falls Rotary Club to benefit the Idaho Falls, ID Snake River Greenbelt

Where: Idaho Falls, ID

When: Saturday, August 9, 2014

Event begins at 10am MT and Derby Ducks race at 4pm MT

Highlights: Idaho Falls is the second stop for Giant Quacky’s Race Tour! Throughout the day ducky fans can enjoy a classic car show, kid-friendly activities, boat races, military displays, food vendors, mascots and more!

Prizes: 18,000 Derby Ducks race for a shot at one of nine quacky prizes with the grand prize of a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup! Other prizes include a Kawasaki Teryx 4-wheeler, a season ski pass, a diamond necklace, gift certificates to local business and more!

23rd Annual Ducky Derby

Who: Aspen Rotary Club

Where: Aspen, CO at Rio Grande Park

Event begins at 10am MT and Derby Ducks race at 2:14pm MT

Highlights: This all day event will feature something for everyone including a silent auction, youth games, a skateboard invitational, music, food and fun!

Prizes: 30,000 Derby Ducks for the $10,000 grand prize and a chance to win $1,000,000!

The Great Puget Sound Duck Dash

Who: Rotary Club of Kirkland

Where: Kirkland,WA at Marina Park

When: Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 2:30pm PT

Highlights: This ducky event will once again be a part of the Kirkland Summerfest Arts & Music Festival. All day the festival will feature a celebration of art, outdoor entertainment, and community spirit. There will be dozens of performances, activities, exhibitions and screenings of the best in music, dance, comedy, circus and street arts, and family entertainment.

Prizes: 10,000 ducks will race and the top 5 ducks will each receive a $1,000 grand prize. 10 additional prizes with a value over $1,500 will also be awarded.
