Race season is off to a Quacktastic start and we have ducks and turtles racing this weekend for some outstanding nonprofit organizations. Check them out! This weekend we have two Duck Races and one Turtle Race that will take the plunge for some fantastic causes! Check them out!
Reedy River Duck Derby
Our first race of the weekend is the Reedy River Duck Derby on Saturday, May 7th! Returning for their 12th year, the Rotary Club of Greenville Evening is racing 10,000 Derby Ducks for multiple nonprofit organizations in Greenville, SC. Nonprofits include: Mauldin Miracle League, GAIHN, EarlyAct FirstKnight, and more! Festivities will begin at 10am EDT at Reedy River Falls Park. There will be games, children’s activities, entertainment, and exhibits from local artists. The main event will take place at 2:30pm where the ducks will swim to win their adoptive owners one of the many prizes. Prizes include a season pass package to Greenville Rec, a children’s playhouse, and groceries for a year! Don’t miss out on this quacky event!

YESS Duck Derby
The second race of the weekend returns for their 9th year racing. The 2016 YESS Duck Derby will once again be held at the Jordan Creek Town Center in Des Moines, IA on Saturday, May 7th. All the ducktastic fun begins at 12pm CDT where spectators can enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly entertainment, kids’ activities, photos with Quacky, and food samples from the restaurants in the Jordan Creek shopping center, all at no cost! At approximately 2:00pm 30,000 Derby Ducks will dive into the water to win one of nine prizes. This year’s prizes include a $100 gift card to Joseph’s Jewelers, a $400 Iowa Cubs Party Pack, a $750 Whole Food Market Grocery Spree and more!
One lucky duck will take home the grand prize of $10,000 for being the quickest! The best part? All the ducky funds that are raised will go to the Youth Emergency Services & Shelter (YESS) who is Iowa’s largest provider of emergency services for youth! Sierra County Turtle Derby
Our last race of the weekend is making their grand Debut in T or C, New Mexico! The Boys & Girls Club of Sierra County will host the first annual Sierra County Turtle Derby at Ralph Edwards Park during Fiesta Weekend. On Sunday, May 8th the T or C community can enjoy a day with family friendly activities. There will be a Kids Fishing Derby, Horseshoe Contest, Geronimo Springs Museum Open House, live music, and more! At 2pm MST 2,000 Turbo Turtles will dive into the Rio Grande for a chance to win some fantastic prizes including several gift cards to Ivory Tusk Restaurant, $250 in groceries from Bullocks and more!
The quickest turtle will win $1,000 for their adoptive owner! It’s a great way to end the weekend! All proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Sierra County whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens!
