Every one of GAME’s nonprofit partners and Derby Duck Races are unique and different in their own way. Tell us a little bit about your organization and why you are racing Derby Ducks:
Derby Ducks is a fundraising event for Crosswinds Youth Services, a not-for-profit organization that has been committed to providing critical programs and services to vulnerable youth and their families in Brevard County, Florida for over 41 years.
What is your favorite part of planning a Derby Duck Race:
Working with the generous donors and dedicated volunteers.
Do you have any duck race tips you would share with a first time racer?
Secure media sponsors first. Be able to tell your organization’s story in a compelling way.
How do you keep your race fresh and new year after year?
That has a been a challenge after 18 years of racing, but offering different prizes and adding things such duck decorating contest.
What is something some people might not know about your organization and/or Derby Duck Race?
We have been serving youth and families in crisis since 1974. It takes a flock of volunteers to coordinate the race and a flock of volunteers to help get ducks adopted.
What are some goals you are trying to achieve with your Derby Duck Race?
Increase awareness of the organization and building long-lasting partnerships and friendships in our community.
